Day 1. (Thursday) MADRID – MALAGA
Call on at Atocha train station in Madrid and departure by high-speed train southbound heading to the Mediterranean Coast. Pleasant and short journey with the comfort and speed of this fast train. Arrival in Malaga, one of Spain’s foremost holiday destinations. Transfer on your own from the station to the hotel. Free time to discover at your leisure the capital of the Costa del Sol, hometown of the famous painter Pablo Picasso and the Hollywood star Antonio Banderas, among its most famous citizens. We recommend you to leave your luggages in the hotel and take a stroll into the historic quarter of the city to visit the Alcazaba, one of the symbols of the city, and one of the largest Arab fortresses in Andalusia, the Gibralfaro Castle, that offers outstanding views over the city, the Picasso Museum or the beautiful Renaissance Cathedral of Malaga known as La Manquita (the one-armed) thanks to its unfinished right tower. Hotel accommodation.
Day 2. (Friday) MALAGA – TARIFA – ASSILAH – TANGIER
Departure from Malaga. Drive along the picturesque tourist route of Costa del Sol via internationally renowned places as Marbella and Puerto Banus, arrive to Tarifa or Algeciras where a ferry boat will be used for a short and interesting crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar towards Africa. Arrival in Tangier and panoramic visit of the residential areas, palaces and old colonial neighbourhoods. Then we will depart to Assilah where we will enjoy free time for lunch and get to know one of the cleanest and whitest medinas in Morocco. We will discover the tranquillity of its streets, as well as its characteristic artistic murals and the beautiful sunset from the Krikia viewpoint. Return to Tangier, dinner at the hotel and accommodation.
Day 3. (Saturday) TANGIER – TETUAN – CHAOUEN
Breakfast and departure to Tetouan, the most authentic city in the North of Morocco, known by the nickname “The White Dove“. We will discover places of interest such as Plaza Moullay El Mehdi and the Spanish Enlargement until Plaza Hassan II, where the Royal Palace is located. We will continue through the neighbourhood of Luneta and the Jewish quarter. Walk through the Medina of Tetouan, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, a jewel of Muslim culture, with winding streets, pretty squares, narrow and long narrow alleys, corners and great doors, which attract the visitor’s curiosity … finishing at Bab Okla or the Gate of the Queen. Stop for lunch (not included) and continue to Chaouen, a charming small town of about 40,000 inhabitants located at about 2.200 ft., of very little car traffic where you can breathe clean and fresh air that invites you to stay a few days to discover the beauty of the place and its surroundings. The great variety of colours, shops and bazaars, contrast with the dazzling blue of the houses. Arrival at the hotel, dinner and accommodation.
Day 4. (Sunday) CHAOUEN – TANGIER – TARIFA – MALAGA
Breakfast and free time to make the last purchases or to visit the charming corners of Chefchaouen: the old medina, the Kebir Mosque, the Alcazaba, the Mellah (Jewish quarter) or the Uta el Hamman Square, of special charm, surrounded by cafes and restaurants. After lunch (not included) we take the route to Tangier to embark back to Algeciras. Drive along the Mediterranean Coast towards Malaga. Arrival at the hotel, free time at your disposal and accommodation. We recommend you go out for Tapa-hopping, an unbeatable way to experience Andalusian culture and savour the charms of its bars and taverns. Tapas are an exquisite, varied and choice example of popular gastronomy which allows you to share a variety of dishes and try a wide range of different products for reasonable prices.
