Day 1. (Sunday) MADRID – MÉRIDA – CÓRDOBA
Depart west on the motorway towards Extremadura, the birthplace of several explorers of the New World. Arrive in ancient Roman Augusta Emerita, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Free time to visit at your leisure the imposing Roman Theatre of Mérida, the city’s most emblematic monument, with its impressive seating and stage with monumental columns, or the Roman Amphitheatre, where gladiatorial combats and other spectacles were held, the Temple of Diana, or the National Museum of Roman Art, which houses an impressive collection of art and artifacts from the Roman era, including mosaics, sculptures, and everyday objects. You can also stroll across the Roman Bridge over the Guadiana River, the longest Roman bridge in the world still standing. In the afternoon, we depart for Córdoba, the former capital of the Muslim Caliphate of Al-Andalus, with its impressive cultural and monumental heritage. Check in to the hotel and overnight stay.
Day 2. (Monday) CÓRDOBA – SEVILLE
Breakfast at the hotel. Accompanied by an expert local guide, we will visit the highlights of Córdoba: the narrow, winding streets of the Jewish Quarter, the synagogue, and the magnificent Great Mosque of Córdoba, one of the largest examples of Islamic architecture in the world, still preserved from the time when Muslims ruled Al-Andalus, which will soothe your mind and spirit. Free time at your leisure to stroll through the historic centre of Córdoba, with its medieval streets, or visit the Royal Palace – Alcázar of the Christian Monarchs and its beautiful gardens. In the afternoon, after a short drive, arrival in Seville, the capital of Andalusia. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3. (Tuesday) SEVILLE
After breakfast, we’ll take a scenic tour of Seville. You’ll visit Seville Cathedral, the second largest in the Catholic world after St. Peter’s in Rome, and its famous Giralda, the former minaret of the Moorish mosque. Then, you’ll stroll through the popular Santa Cruz neighbourhood, the natural setting for Carmen and the birthplace of the myth of Don Juan. After the tour, you’ll have free time to discover different perspectives and unique flavours of this vibrant, sun-drenched city. How about a boat trip on the Guadalquivir River to enjoy the panoramic views? Afterward, you can walk along the banks of the Guadalquivir, the great king of Andalusia, as the poet Luis de Góngora y Argote called it. Overnight stay. In the evening, you can optionally enjoy a flamenco show.
Day 4. (Wednesday) SEVILLE – RONDA – COSTA DEL SOL
After breakfast, we travel along the White Villages Route to Ronda, one of the most beautiful cities in Andalusia. Enjoy free time in the historic centre, where you’ll have the opportunity to see the Puente Nuevo (New Bridge) and the Alameda de San Carlos, which offers magnificent panoramic views of the Ronda Mountains, as well as the Casa de San Juan Bosco (House of Saint John Bosco). Departure for the Costa del Sol. Arrival at the hotel and free afternoon. Overnight stay.
Day 5. (Thursday) COSTA DEL SOL
Breakfast. Free day at your leisure to enjoy the famous Costa del Sol. You can take an optional day trip to Gibraltar, where you can visit the renowned Rock of Gibraltar National Park, see the Barbary macaques living in their natural habitat, or explore St. Michael’s Cave. Don’t forget to stop by the famous Main Street, an ideal place for shopping at some of the most competitive prices in the Mediterranean. Overnight on the Costa del Sol.
Day 6. (Friday) COSTA DEL SOL – TARIFA – TANGIER – FEZ
After breakfast at the hotel, depart along the scenic Costa del Sol tourist route, passing internationally renowned destinations such as Marbella and Puerto Banús, towards Tarifa to cross the Strait of Gibraltar. After border formalities, continue by bus to Fez, the oldest of Morocco’s imperial cities and famous for its ancient walled city, which many compare to Jerusalem. Check in to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 7. (Saturday) FEZ
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, we will visit Fez, the oldest and most monumental of the Imperial Cities of Morocco, to discover the most interesting places in this marvellous city: the seven gates of the Royal Palace, the Jewish Quarter or Mellah, and the Bab Bou Jeloud gate, which provides access to the Medina. We continue with a walk through its magnificent Medina, or old city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will visit the Medersa, one of the main schools of the Quranic religion in Morocco, and the Al Karaouine Mosque, one of the largest architectural complexes in Fez, known for housing the oldest university in the world. Later, we will discover the famous tanneries, with their countless pits filled with natural dyes that create a colourful landscape. The afternoon is free to leisurely enjoy the extensive and labyrinthine Medina of Fes el-Bali, made up of more than 9,000 alleyways, the best-preserved Medina in the Arab world and the greatest living monument in all of Morocco. In the evening, there is the option of a dinner show at a traditional restaurant in the medina. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 8. (Sunday) FEZ – RABAT – CASABLANCA – MARRAKECH
Breakfast and departure for Rabat, the diplomatic and administrative capital of Morocco and the official residence of King Mohammed VI. During the guided tour of Rabat, we will see the Royal Palace of Rabat (Dar al-Makhzen), the official residence of the King of Morocco, from the outside. Then we will proceed to the esplanade of Yacoub al-Mansour to discover the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a masterpiece of Alaouite architecture, with its white silhouette crowned by a typical green-tiled roof. Opposite the Mausoleum, we will see the Hassan Tower, the minaret of an unfinished mosque that has become the symbol of the city. Afterward, we continue our journey to Casablanca, the largest city and the modern face of Morocco. We will take a sightseeing tour of Casablanca, this cosmopolitan city and the economic capital of Morocco. We will discover the highlights of Casablanca, such as the Anfa Boulevard and the Place des Nations. We will visit the impressive Hassan II Mosque from the outside (interior visit offered as an optional activity), a showcase of the finest Moroccan craftsmanship and the symbol of Casablanca, second only to Mecca in importance and size. After the visit, we will continue to Marrakech, the city that gave its name to the country, a fascinating and mysterious city where Europe, Africa, and the Middle East blend and merge. Arrival at the hotel and overnight stay. Optionally, you can enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner and an equestrian show featuring belly dancers, flying carpets, and fireworks in an atmosphere reminiscent of the Arabian Nights.
Day 9. (Monday) MARRAKECH – CASABLANCA
After breakfast, we’ll begin with an incredible guided tour of Marrakech. We’ll see the Koutoubia Minaret, the twin sister of the Giralda in Seville, from the outside, and the Bahia Palace, one of the city’s most impressive landmarks. We’ll stroll through the bustling Medina and its souks, ending in the magical Djemaa El Fna Square, a symbol of Morocco, teeming with fortune-tellers, snake charmers, acrobats, and dancers. The city centre is a vibrant open-air theatre that demands audience participation. Don’t forget your camera! We’ll return to the hotel for lunch and then depart for Casablanca. Upon arrival at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 10. (Tuesday) CASABLANCA – TANGIER – TARIFA – COSTA DEL SOL
Breakfast at the hotel. We travel along the Moroccan Atlantic coast. Arrival at the port of Tangier and we take the ferry back to Spain via the Strait of Gibraltar. Travel along the Mediterranean coast towards the Costa del Sol. Arrival at the hotel and free time at your leisure. We recommend going out for tapas, an unbeatable way to experience Andalusian culture and savour the charm of its bars and taverns. Tapas are an exquisite, varied, and select example of popular gastronomy, allowing you to share a variety of dishes and sample a wide range of different products at reasonable prices. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 11. (Wednesday) COSTA DEL SOL
Breakfast at the hotel. Free day on the Costa del Sol. We recommend visiting Marbella, a cosmopolitan city where you can wander through the streets of its historic centre, with its typically Moorish layout, and visit unique sites such as the medieval castle, the Plaza de los Naranjos (Orange Square), or the Museum of Engraving. You can also go shopping along its main streets; Marbella is a shopper’s paradise, with every designer boutique you could imagine. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 12. (Thursday) COSTA DEL SOL – GRANADA
Breakfast. Departure for Granada and its incredible and breathtaking monumental surroundings, the last stronghold of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada until 1492. Visit the world-famous Alhambra complex with its beautiful palaces, fountains, gardens, and courtyards, whose sights and sounds inspired authors like Washington Irving in his Tales of the Alhambra. The rest of the afternoon is free, during which we recommend a stroll through Granada’s historic centre, exploring the origins of this city that still retains all the magic of its Moorish past. Some must-see sites include the Royal Chapel of Granada, the place chosen by the Catholic Monarchs for their final resting place; visit the Cathedral of Granada, with its impressive Spanish Baroque façade; and the Alcaicería, the old silk market during the Nasrid era, a network of narrow streets filled with shops selling handicrafts. Overnight at the hotel. In the evening, you can optionally enjoy a Zambra Gitana flamenco show in the Sacromonte neighbourhood.
Day 13. (Friday) GRANADA – MADRID
Breakfast at the hotel. We depart for the heart of Spain. Leaving behind the Granada plains, we enter the province of Jaén, which offers spectacular views of an immense sea of olive groves carpeting the hills as far as the eye can see. The transition from Andalusia to Castilla-La Mancha is dramatically marked as we cross the Despeñaperros Natural Park, an impressive gorge and natural border that breaks through the Sierra Morena mountain range with its steep cliffs and Mediterranean vegetation. Once on the Central Plateau, we will enjoy the vast, golden plains of La Mancha, a land of vineyards, cereal crops, and expansive skies, dotted with picturesque villages and the silhouettes of windmills reminiscent of Don Quixote. In the late afternoon, we arrive in Madrid, marking the end of the trip.
