Itinerary of the tour to Andalusia:
Day 1. (Sunday) MADRID – MÉRIDA – CÓRDOBA
Our journey begins as we head west into the heart of Extremadura, the rugged land that gave birth to the legendary explorers of the New World. Our first destination is the ancient city of Mérida, once known as Augusta Emerita and today a proud UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy free time to immerse yourself in its Roman splendour. You may choose to visit the iconic Roman Theatre, a masterpiece of ancient architecture with its monumental columns, or the Amphitheatre, where gladiators once fought for glory. Stroll across the Guadiana River on the world’s longest surviving Roman Bridge, or marvel at the mosaics within the National Museum of Roman Art. In the afternoon, we continue south toward Córdoba, the former capital of the Caliphate and a city that once stood as the intellectual heart of Europe. Upon arrival, we check in to our hotel for a well-deserved rest, surrounded by the city’s immense cultural legacy. Overnight in Córdoba.
Day 2. (Monday) CÓRDOBA – SEVILLE
After breakfast, we join an expert local guide for a guided tour of Córdoba’s most iconic sights. Wander through the labyrinthine streets of the Jewish Quarter (La Judería), where whitewashed walls and floral-adorned balconies lead us to the historic Synagogue. The highlight of our tour is the visit of the Great Mosque-Cathedral, a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage Site and a crowning achievement of Islamic architecture. Its iconic forest of red-and-white arches offers a tranquil atmosphere that truly soothes the spirit. The afternoon is yours to enjoy. Perhaps take a leisurely stroll along the Roman Bridge or discover the lush, manicured gardens of the Royal Alcázar of the Christian Monarchs, famed for its magnificent terraced gardens and sparkling fountains. In the afternoon, we depart for Seville, the sun-drenched capital of Andalusia. Overnight accommodation at our hotel.
Day 3. (Tuesday) SEVILLE
After breakfast, we embark on a panoramic tour of Seville, a city that radiates elegance and charm. We visit the magnificent Seville Cathedral, the largest Gothic cathedral in the world—and its iconic Giralda Tower, the former Almohad minaret that stands as a symbol of the city’s Moorish legacy. Our journey continues through the enchanting Santa Cruz neighbourhood. This historic Jewish quarter, with its hidden plazas and flower-filled balconies, served as the romantic backdrop for the legend of Don Juan and Bizet’s Carmen. The afternoon is yours to savour the unique flavours and vibrant atmosphere of the capital of Andalusia. Whether you choose to visit the Plaza de España, Maria Luisa Park or Torre del Oro, take a scenic boat cruise on the Guadalquivir River to enjoy a different perspective of the city’s skyline, followed by a stroll along its historic banks, celebrated by poets as the Great King of Andalusia, or simply enjoy tapas in a sun-drenched square, the city’s energy is sure to captivate you. To complete your Andalusian experience, you may optionally join us for a passionate Flamenco show, where the soul of Spain comes to life in an unforgettable performance. Overnight stay.
Day 4. (Wednesday) SEVILLE – RONDA – COSTA DEL SOL
After breakfast, we leave Seville behind and head into the heart of Andalusia’s rugged mountains. Our route takes us through the spectacular Route of the White Villages (Pueblos Blancos). You will be captivated by the sight of these traditional hamlets, with their whitewashed houses clinging to the hillsides amidst olive groves and rolling mountains, a truly quintessential Spanish landscape. We arrive in Ronda, one of the most ancient and breathtaking towns in Spain. Perched on a soaring limestone plateau, the town is famously split by the El Tajo Gorge, a 120-metre-deep chasm carved by the Guadalevín River. During your free time, we recommend crossing the magnificent Puente Nuevo (New Bridge) for unparalleled panoramic views, or exploring the historic Plaza de Toros, one of the oldest and most beautiful bullrings in the country. Wander through the cobbled streets of the old Moorish quarter (La Ciudad), where every corner feels like a step back in time. In the afternoon, we descend from the mountains towards the sparkling Mediterranean. Our journey concludes on the world-famous Costa del Sol, where the golden beaches and cosmopolitan atmosphere provide the perfect setting for a relaxing evening by the sea. Overnight stay.
Day 5. (Thursday) COSTA DEL SOL – GRANADA
Breakfast. Departure for Granada, the legendary last stronghold of the Moorish Kingdom until 1492. We’ll start our day in Granada with a guided tour of the world-famous Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens. We have included your entry and an official local guide to lead you through this stunning palace complex. You will marvel at the intricate stucco work of the Nasrid Palaces, the imposing Palace of Charles V, and the serene beauty of the Generalife Gardens, with their sparkling fountains and fragrant jasmine. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is widely considered the most beautiful example of Islamic architecture in the Western world. Following our visit, enjoy free time to discover the soul of Granada. We highly recommend wandering through the Monumental area of Granada, strolling through the origins of this city that still retains all the magic of its Arab past. There are some must-see places: the Royal Chapel of Granada, the place chosen by the Catholic Monarchs for their last rest, the Cathedral, with its impressive facade of Spanish Baroque style and also the Alcaiceria, the old Silk Market in the Nasrid era, a network of narrow streets filled with shops selling handicrafts from Granada, reminiscent of a Moroccan souk. We highly recommend a walk through the Albaicín, the ancient Moorish quarter. Wander its narrow, winding lanes, lined with whitewashed houses and hidden gardens, until you reach the famous Mirador de San Nicolás. From this iconic viewpoint, you will witness the most spectacular panoramic views of the Alhambra with the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountains as a backdrop. Optionally, you can join us for an unforgettable night in the Sacromonte caves for an authentic Zambra Gitana. This passionate Gypsy Flamenco show, performed in a traditional cave-dwelling, is a deep immersion into the spirit of Granada. Accommodation at the hotel.
Day 6. (Friday) GRANADA – MADRID
Breakfast at the hotel. We depart for the heart of Spain. Leaving behind the Granada plains, we enter the province of Jaén, which offers spectacular views of an immense sea of olive groves carpeting the hills as far as the eye can see. The transition from Andalusia to Castilla-La Mancha is dramatically marked as we cross the Despeñaperros Natural Park, an impressive gorge and natural border that breaks through the Sierra Morena mountain range with its steep cliffs and Mediterranean vegetation. Once on the Central Plateau, we will enjoy the vast, golden plains of La Mancha, a land of vineyards, cereal crops, and expansive skies, dotted with picturesque villages and the silhouettes of windmills reminiscent of Don Quixote. In the late afternoon, we arrive in Madrid, marking the end of the trip.
