A fascinating 9 days tour of Andalusia and Northern Spain from the Costa del Sol. Our first stop will be at Granada, where we will visit the Palace of Alhambra and the beautiful Generalife Gardens. We will continue to Toledo and Madrid, then travel along the Cantabrian Coast in Northern Spain, and its most emblematic places, such as San Sebastian, Bilbao, Santander, and the Picos de Europa (Peaks of Europe) mountain range. We return to Andalusia, visiting Salamanca, Caceres, Seville, and Ronda, thus concluding an unforgettable experience.

Day 1. (Friday) COSTA DEL SOL – GRANADA
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Granada, with its incredible and amazing monumental environment, the last stronghold of the Moorish Kingdom up to 1492. We’ll visit the world-famous Alhambra complex with its imposing Alcazaba fortress, the Palace of Charles V, and the Generalife Gardens, fountains, gardens, and courtyards that with their sights and sounds have inspired authors such as Washington Irving in his Tales of the Alhambra. Free time in the afternoon. We recommend you to visit the Cathedral and the Royal Chapel that houses the tombs of the Catholic Monarchs or stroll through the Albaicín neighbourhood and enjoy the beautiful views of the Alhambra from the Mirador de San Nicolás. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel. Optionally, you can see a Gipsy Flamenco Show held in a cave-house at Sacromonte Quarter.
Day 2. (Saturday) GRANADA – TOLEDO – MADRID
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive northward where, toward the sky of Castile and surrounded by the Tagus River, it emerges the impressive Imperial City of Toledo – a World Heritage City – where the three cultures Christians, Moorish and Jewish, have lived together in harmony. Resume of the Spanish art, history and spirituality, the whole town of Toledo is a National Monument. We’ll enjoy the lunch in a local restaurant (included) and then we’ll do an in depth city tour of Toledo that includes the most important monuments, its narrow streets, and we’ll discover the famous Damasquinado Art (gold and silver inlaying in iron). After the visit we’ll continue to Madrid, the diplomatic capital, economic centre, and most populous city in Spain, where the government is based and the Spanish monarchy resides. Arrival at the hotel and overnight stay. We recommend leaving your bags at your hotel and exploring Madrid’s historic centre and its must-see sites, such as Puerta de Alcala and Cibeles Square, Puerta del Sol, home to Spain’s Kilometre Zero and the Statue of the Bear and the Strawberry Tree, strolling along Gran Vía and reaching Plaza de España, or Plaza de Oriente, home to the Royal Palace and Almudena Cathedral. For dinner, we recommend heading to Plaza Mayor, where you’ll find a wide variety of taverns and restaurants.
Day 3. (Sunday) MADRID – ZARAGOZA – SAN SAN SEBASTIAN
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from Madrid towards Zaragoza, located on the banks of the Ebro River, one of Spain’s major cities and capital of the Region of Aragon. Free time to visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Pilar, Patroness of Hispanity and stroll through the old streets of Zaragoza to discover its impressive monumental legacy as Romans, Muslims, Jews and Christians left their mark on this place. Taste the typical dishes of the region and, of course, take part in one of the great traditions of the city, “going for tapas”: small gastronomic creations that delight anyone who tries them. In the afternoon we continue our trip to the Basque Country, a green paradise, land of great contrasts, to reach San Sebastian, one of the most attractive tourist destinations on the Cantabrian coast and known worldwide for its International Film Festival. Free time at your disposal to walk around this city of French and gentrified style whose landscape is dominated by the Bay of San Sebastian and La Concha Beach, framed by Mount Igueldo and the island of Santa Clara. Arrival at the hotel, dinner and accommodation.
Day 4. (Monday) SAN SEBASTIAN – BILBAO – SANTANDER
After breakfast, we recommend you to climb to Igueldo Mountain, an unbeatable watchtower from where you can contemplate a magnificent view of San Sebastian. At mid-morning, departure to Bilbao, capital of the province of Vizcaya. Arrival and brief stop to admire the avant-garde building of the Guggenheim Museum. Design and architecture permeate this entire city. Later on, we’ll continue to Santander, the capital of Cantabria, one of the most elegant and beautiful cities on the North Coast of Spain, which stretches along a wide bay overlooking the Cantabrian Sea. Arrival and free time to visit Santander’s old town, which includes a set of noble buildings, the Cathedral, one of the oldest buildings in the capital and which houses the tomb of Marcelino Menendez Pelayo, the Porticada Square or stroll through the famous El Sardinero beach, one of the most beautiful promenades in Spain, with sumptuous buildings, such as the Gran Casino, which evokes the architecture of the Belle Époque. Arrival at the hotel, dinner and accommodation.
Day 5. (Tuesday) SANTANDER – SANTILLANA – COVADONGA – OVIEDO
Breakfast at hotel. Departure to Santillana del Mar, one of the most important historical artistic towns in Spain. It contains architectural treasures such as the Collegiate Church of Santa Juliana, a Jewel of the Romanesque Arquitecture in Cantabria. Later on, driving a twisty road that will slowly reveal a beautiful countryside made up of calm waters, unimaginable green carpets and mountain peaks which all seem to be almost within reach, we will arrive to Covadonga, where you will have free time to visit the Shrine, a place of worship and pilgrimage for the people of Asturias, where you will see the Patroness of Asturias our Lady of Covadonga. In the afternoon, departure to Oviedo, a city of an unquestionable medieval flavour. Free time to explore Oviedo, most of its streets are pedestrian, where you will be able to see World Heritage Sites like the Cathedral of Oviedo, a splendid example of gothic asturian architecture or the beautiful church of Santa Maria de Naranco, a jewel of the pre-romanic asturian architecture. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 6. (Wednesday) OVIEDO – SALAMANCA – MADRID
Breakfast at the hotel. We leave behind us the Green Coast of Northern Spain and drive inland to Salamanca, the university city par excellence. Free time to explore at your own pace this World Heritage Site of great artistic wealth. A stroll around the pedestrian streets in its historic centre will take you to Plaza Mayor, one of the most beautiful squares in Spain, you may visit Salamanca’s two cathedrals (the old cathedral dating from the 12th-13th centuries of Romanesque style, and the new one from the 16th century), the House of Shells, the Baroque style Clerecia church and the University with its beautiful Plateresque façade. In the afternoon we’ll continue to Madrid. Arrival at the hotel and overnight.
Day 7. (Thursday) MADRID – CACERES – SEVILLE
After breakfast, departure westbound on the highway to Extremadura, homeland of various New World discoverers. Arrival in Caceres, a magical medieval city, capital of the Extremadura region in western Spain. Free time to stroll through the old town with its city walls and watchtowers and its well-known medieval neighbourhood, declared a World Heritage Site, considered one of the most complete and best preserved urban complexes in Europe. We recommend you to follow the narrow walkways that will transport you to another century and engage you in its old charm. You’ll discover the main square of Caceres – the Plaza Mayor and the Bujaco Tower locally known as the Clock Tower, the Arch of the Star, which is one of the five access gates of Caceres, the beautiful Palace of the Golfines… In the afternoon, we’ll travel along the Silver Highway towards Andalusia, a region with a huge heritage from a splendorous past, to arrive at Seville, Andalusia’s capital. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 8. (Friday) SEVILLE
After breakfast, we’ll do a monumental and panoramic visit of Seville. You will visit from outside the Cathedral of Seville, the second largest in the Catholic world after San Pedro in Rome and its famous Giralda, the old minaret of the Arab mosque, then stroll through the popular neighbourhoods of Santa Cruz, natural scenery of “Carmen” as well as where it developed the myth of “Don Juan” and also Triana, with a deep popular flavour and cradle of bullfighters and artists. After the visit, you’ll enjoy the exquisite Andalusian gastronomy with a lunch included in a local restaurant. In the afternoon you’ll have some free to discover different perspectives and specific flavours of this active city full of light. May we recommend you an optional boat trip on the Guadalquivir River to enjoy the panoramic views that exist from the boat? Then you can walk along the banks of the Guadalquivir River, the “great king of Andalusia” as the local poet Luis de Góngora y Argote called it. At night, optionally, you can enjoy a flamenco show. Accommodation at the hotel.
Day 9. (Saturday) SEVILLE – RONDA – COSTA DEL SOL
After breakfast at the hotel we’ll drive south along the Route of the White Washed Villages, listening to stories of bandits while arriving at Ronda, one of the most beautiful towns in Andalusia, situated on the gorge of the Guadalevin River (locally known as Tajo de Ronda) that cuts the city in half. You’ll enjoy some free time to admire this town of Celtic origin and the marvellous views of the valley and mountain range. In the afternoon, continue on to the Costa del Sol. Arrival at the end of the day, and the end of the tour.
