Itinerary of the coach holiday to Gibraltar:
Day 1.
We leave for Gibraltar from our office and drive along the coast to the town of La Linea de la Concepcion, making several stops along the way. We then arrive at our hotel. In the afternoon we drive to Gibraltar either to visit the town or to go shopping. Afterwards we return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2.
After breakfast we visit the Rock of Gibraltar where we see the famous Barbary Macaque wild monkeys and there is also an optional visit to St Michael’s Cave (or you can spend the time at your own leisure). After this visit we return to the hotel, to subsequently start the return trip to Roquetas de Mar. On our way back we make a stop in Puerto Banus, the marvellous marina which is home to many millionaires … here you can enjoy some free time and have something to eat. The return trip also follows the coast.
Information about destination:
A beautiful trip along the Costa del Sol. Enjoy the marvellous views over the coast, Almuñecar, Malaga, Benalmadena, Marbella … and finally, meandering along the small streets of Gibraltar, observing the indigenous monkeys and feeling “on top of the world” on the top of the Rock.
Puerto Banus used to be a small fishing village but nowadays it’s one of the most cosmopolitan villages of the Costa del Sol. It’s the most famous marina in the whole Mediterranean Sea, where international celebrities visit and famous yachts set anchor.
Nearby is the city of Marbella, which was converted from a fishing village in the 1960’s into the most famous holiday resort in Spain, now visited by the Spanish and international ‘jet set’. Marbella has a significant archaeological heritage and is the ‘historical centre’ of the Costa del Sol, now known all over the world.
The steep al-yabal Tarik (the rock Tarik), as the Arabs called the Rock of Gibraltar, contains a large number of caves which were used by the early inhabitants as places of refuge. Further tunnels were dug out of the rock by its human inhabitants over the centuries.
Nowadays, most of the Rock’s upper area is covered by a nature reserve which is home to many species of plants and animals, including of course the famous Barbary Macaque monkeys who try to prevail over their human counterparts! At the foot of the Rock we find the Mediterranean Sea where dolphins circle the Rock. It’s also a thriving business centre – business starts early in Gibraltar. An assortment of cultures and styles meet here; it’s a very unique place on the Iberian Peninsula and is certainly a spectacular viewpoint over the African coast.
