During the siege of the city, the Queen Isabella I of Castile received Christopher Columbus and she granted him the means to undertake his journey to the West Indies.

Inside this complex is located as well the Renaissance Palace of the Emperor Charles V alongside the Moorish bulwark.

In front of the Alhambra, on the other side of the hill, across the Darro River lies the Albaicin neighbourhood, a strait and fascinating maze of winding streets, its white houses, provided with their own interior gardens are known as Carmenes. Also, in Granada, you may vitis its Renaissance Cathedral considered the first one in Spain to be built in this style. Close to the Cathedral there’s the Royal Chapel, that was ordered by the Catholic Kings for their own tomb. Lots of other churches and palaces fill up the city, all built by the moors after the conquer, giving birth to a unique style known as Mudejar.
